When the people side gets complicated

People challenges rarely fit neatly into boxes.

A growing team starts to feel harder to manage. Roles become unclear. A capable leader starts struggling. Conflict keeps resurfacing. A restructure isn't landing. Or a people issue that initially seemed manageable begins consuming more time, energy and attention.

Sometimes you need practical HR advice.

Sometimes you need senior people expertise.

Sometimes the obvious problem isn't the real problem.

Alignment Group helps organisations and leaders slow down the noise, establish what is actually happening and work out what needs to happen next.

Workplace Mediation & Conflict Resolution

Workplace conflict can quickly consume time, confidence and working relationships.

We provide independent workplace mediation and conflict support that moves beyond blame, gets beneath the presenting issue and helps people create a fair, practical way forward.

Where appropriate, we also help identify the underlying conditions that allowed the conflict to develop, rather than simply resolving the immediate disagreement.

People, Culture & Organisational Change

Change works better when people can see themselves in it.

Alignment Group supports organisations with people and culture strategy, organisational change, inclusion, stakeholder engagement, facilitation and selected strategic people projects.

We combine evidence, employee experience and practical organisational thinking to help move beyond activity and create strategies people understand, believe in and can actually use.

When what usually works isn't working

You can be highly capable and still reach a situation you can't solve by simply working harder.

You might have stepped into a bigger leadership role, inherited a difficult team, found yourself caught in conflict or be questioning how you're showing up under pressure.

Perhaps you're facing an important decision and need somewhere to think without being given another person's answer.

Alignment Group provides leadership coaching for executives, business owners and emerging leaders who want to understand what's really happening, recognise the patterns shaping their response and find a clearer way forward.

The aim isn't to turn you into a different kind of leader. It's to help you understand yourself more deeply, expand the choices available to you and lead in a way that works for you, your people and the organisation.

What if the obvious problem isn't the real problem?

An underperforming employee might point to unclear expectations.

Repeated conflict might reveal something about leadership, roles or culture.

A founder struggling to delegate may not need another process.

A technically brilliant executive experiencing friction may not need to become less direct.

A strategy that isn't gaining traction may need more than another round of consultation.

Getting beneath the presenting problem can change what becomes possible.

That's the thinking behind Unearthing Reality.

Unearthing Reality

Unearth what's real. Shift what's possible. Shape what comes next.

Unearthing Reality is Alignment Group's human-centred approach to complex people and leadership challenges.

Rather than assuming the first explanation is the whole story, we explore the fuller reality: facts, assumptions, emotions, motivations, relationships, organisational systems and perspectives that may have been overlooked.

Depending on the person and situation, that can involve strategic questioning, evidence, reflection, creative exercises, different perspectives, intuition and tools such as the Enneagram.

There is no fixed formula. The method adapts to the person and the situation.

See

See the fuller reality.

Separate facts from assumptions. Explore what's happening beneath the presenting issue. Notice patterns, different perspectives and what might have been overlooked.

Shift

Shift the pattern.

Challenge familiar thinking. Explore different perspectives and possibilities. Create enough space between the situation and your automatic response to see what else might be possible.

Shape

Shape what comes next.

Turn insight into action. A different conversation. A clearer boundary. A leadership practice. A strategic decision. A practical experiment. Or a new direction.

“James led the review and update of the Diversity and Inclusion Framework at NDIA.

I really appreciated the way in which he ran with all of the networking and catch ups with all the relevant stakeholders, and the extension of that is adopting their feedback to really include the voices of those talked to into the framework. It is a really great legacy piece to have provided for the NDIA.”
